CALLING 119 FROM DIFFERENT TYPES OF PHONES:

  • For privately installed phones (at home or at work) and for grey card phones, lift the reciever and dial 119.
  • For green and orange card phones, push the emrgency calls button and then dial 119. It is not necessary to insert a coin or card.
  • For red and pink phones which are the most common phones in shops, you can get a person from the shop to call for you or get them to insert the key into the telephone and dial 119, making a coin unnecessary.

WHEN A FIRE STARTS:

While a fire is still in its initial stages, try to put it out yourself. Slowly and evenly cover the burning object with the fire extinguisher's powder. Don't aim the powder directly on the flame. When using water soak the object and the surrounding area.

TO ESCAPE A FIRE SAFELY:

Stay close to the floor to avoid breathing in smoke which rises.

FIRE FIGHTING ADVICE:

The Fire Department is able to assist with all fire related disaster prevention advice. Contact them to discuss fire fighting methods and maintenance of fire extinguishers, their purchase, etc.
