KIA SERVICES

INTERNET ACCESS:

KIA provides free internet access through its fully equipped PC. Anyone is free to use this service. However, there is no booking system, so it is on a first-come-first-served basis. Please be considerate of other people waiting to use KIA's Internet PC.

 

VIDEO SYSTEM CONVERSIONS:

KIA is pleased to convert PAL system (Europe, Australasia, China, Singapore) video cassettes to NTSC (Japan, United States, Canada, Taiwan, Korea, Philippines) or vice versa. This difference in systems means that those people who bring videos with them to Japan, cannot watch them on a Japanese VCR, causing great inconvenience. However, with our conversion system, you can watch all your favorite tapes here in Japan. (Please provide your own blank tapes to record onto).

 

NOTICE BOARD:

Need to learn Japanese, English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese...? Like to be able to make Japanese food, play the guitar or go to a language school abroad? Want to teach someone your skill, or just find a conversation partner? These are just a few of the opportunities that the Notice Board in KIA offers you. It is a free space to peddle your interests or find a new hobby. With both Japanese and foreigners using KIA, the board works for both locals and visitors. Come in and see if something takes your fancy, or post your own advert at your leisure.

 

JAPANESE LESSONS:

KIA offers free Japanese-language lessons to foreigners living in Kochi. There are three different courses to suit your ability, all with a professional Japanese teacher. Contact us for information about all these courses.

Classes in Japanese are also planned for the benefit of foreigners residing in Kochi . These classes are staffed by Japanese volunteers, and you should make allocation to the KIA if you are interested.

 

COUNSELLING:

If you need assistance with a problem you might have whilst living in Japan, we will be pleased to help by offering advice and contacts. With interpreters who can help you communicate to our counsellors, you can be assured of the strictest confidence. EDUCATION INFORMATION:

If you would like information about studying as a foreigner at a Japanese university, we have all the appropriate information and contacts. Also, if you fancy seeing how much Japanese you have learnt so far and getting a qualification at the same time, we have information about all the recognised Japanese proficiency tests (J.Test, JETRO Test, Nouryoku Shiken etc.)
